Why Workshops and Iterative Development?
Better, faster, cheaper. We know analytic systems, reporting and data mining requires interactive workshops so that stakeholders can see possibilities and visualize alternatives. It is the same reason architects build models.
To make our workshops and iterative development process efficient, we start with visualization, data and transformation models that allow us to quickly prototype and arrive at the right solution. In fact, we invest in an interactive, facilitated Solution Workshop with every customer prospect before we sign a contract. It is our way of making sure we hit the ground running, scope the project correctly and expose you to the way we work.
Solution Workshop Agenda
1. Business Goals and Requirements - Two Hours
We start with your objectives and use a checklist approach to efficiently identify and prioritize sources of data, key dimensions of the warehouse (the key levers that effectively are variables in measuring performance) and key metrics (again, we start with a list of metric categories to accelerate and crystallize your thinking).
2. Data Factory Architecture - One Hour
We walk through our Data Factory framework diagram and discuss the technology and solution provider landscape. We look for your feedback and highlight which areas are priorities for you, based on the Business discussion.
3. Break For Lunch
4. Visualizations and Voice of the Customer - One Hour
While you are at lunch, we configure a “template” system we built in-house to include dimensions applicable to your business. For example we might select dimensions like campaign data from Search Advertising, Website activity, Display Advertising, Radio spots, Customer, Product/hierarchy, then show you a half dozen visualizations that allow you to tell us what meets your requirements and where we have gaps to fill.
Deliverables include notes that outline:
- Your Business Goals and High Level Requirements
- Architectural approach, identifying the areas of concentration you indicated
- Feedback from visualization and Voice of the Customer
Outcome
- Visibility into our capabilities and methods of working as a partner with our clients.
- Input that you can use to define a project and where necessary, develop internal support.
If these outcomes are positive and you believe there is a good place for us to start working together, we quickly assemble a Solution Roadmap proposal for you and your organization. The Solution Roadmap is an accelerated project, usually a few weeks, to select software and make key design decisions before we begin iterative Agile development and assemble the first iteration of a solution.
